10 Fun Games to Keep Your Brain in Shape

A lot of people are trying to improve their memory, concentration – in order words, keep their brain in shape.

Have you ever found yourself in one of this situations: Bored?… Waiting for someone?… Stuck in the office doing the same old monotonous thing?… Feel like a robot?…

Then try out these 10 fun, smart and challenging games to improve your mood, sharpen your memory and exercise your concentration skills:

1. Sudoku

brain game - sudokuSudoku is a very challenging game that can put your brain to a serious workout. The game consists of 9 boxes of 3X3 grids. Based on some initially given digits, you have to figure out the other ones so that there are no two of the same digit in a small box, row or column. Sounds simple right? But you need a lot of concentration to solve this puzzle. However, with a little practice and number skills you could do very well in this game. You can play Sudoku by following the text link.

2. Match Games

In match games you are given a number of flipped over cards. Each card has a pair. You get to flip only two cards in one turn. If the two don’t mach, they get flipped again. You need to remember what cards you saw  so that you can find their mach. This game puts your short-term memory to use and when playing with someone else, strategy becomes important as well. National Geographic has a match game on its website. You can play it there.

3. Rubik’s cube

The Rubik cube has approximately 43 quintillion (that’s 18 zeros) possible positions, each of them being possible to solve in well under 100 moves by using certain solutions. At the moment of writing, the official world record for solving a Rubik’s cube is held by Feliks Zemdegs with 6.65 seconds….seriously, this is for real!!!

4. Sokoban

Remember Sokoban? It was crated in Japan in 1981 and since then, it has been redesigned in various video games. You have to push crates into designated areas. You can only push one crate at a time and you can’t pull them or jump over them so you have to be careful not to get stuck.

The concept is simple but the puzzles can be very challenging. Your ability to recognize patterns and sub-goals will be necessary. The further you proceed into the game the more time you will spend planning and thinking each move.

5. Short-Term Memory Game

Another addicting game from the National Geographic website. This game can seem pretty easy at first but is it? You are given a set of pictures with each of them put in a specific grid. You need to quickly memorize the position of each picture. When a timer turns zero, the pictures are shuffled and you need to rearrange them as they were. The game is a serious test of your short-term memory. Follow the text link to play this memory game.

Pro-Tip: start with the landscapes first, not the numbers!

6. Crossword Puzzle

Crossword Puzzles put your memory and concentration skills to the test. They provide your brain with a genuine fitness program. Best used on a coffee break or during a slow day at your desk job.

7. Mahjong Solitaire

Mahjong is a strategy game who originated in China, usually played by four players. The newly popularized computer game version of Mahjong, played by only one person is named Mahjong Solitaire and is considered a matching game. 144 tiles are arranged on a board with their faces upwards. You have to find the pairs and remove them from the board only by moving them either to the left or to the right, without disturbing other tiles. It’s a strategy game that requires planning and attention. Removing obvious tiles prematurely will make you unable to do any other moves.

8. Simon Says

In the computer version of Simon Says, there are four colors: blue, red, green and yellow. The computer starts with a sequence of three colors (for example blue-blue-green) and you have to click on them in the exact same order. After one successful turn, the computer adds one more color to the sequence.

How long of a sequence can you remember? I got to about 15.

9. Minesweeper

I’m an avid minesweeper player. It requires logical and analytical skills and sometimes, even guesswork. Beware! It can be very addicting.

10. The 60 Second Brain Game

How hard can it be to count to 5? Well, extremely hard if you hear a four and see five threes. Did I make you curious? This game will test your attention and concentration at the same time. You can play the 60 second Brain Game by following the text link. Just click on the “Medium” link under the image and you’re good to go.

There you have it! Now start playing, but beware of your boss..:) your brain will be in shape in no time.

Hello! I know this is kinda off topic but I was
wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with
hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

As long as poets continue to write poetry new ones will be created to categorize the person’s poems. Of course, when it comes to song and ordered modulations and reinventions, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears should be believed. However, believe it or not poems about getting back together actually can be quite powerful when attracting your ex back into your life.

Break your 3 normal main meals into 5 smaller portion sizes – morning, snack,

When you’re about to start on your weight loss plan, it’s
a good idea to think about your end goal and chunk it down into smaller goals.
