Anti-Aging Effect of Grapes

As you might have heard or read, grapes have a lot of health benefits for the human body and anti-aging effect of grapes is at the top.

Grapes are packed with nutrients that provide extraordinary health benefits for us. Vitamins, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, polyphenols (like resveratrol), saponins, pectins and a lot more can be found in just a single grape.

Although most of you might know grapes for the antioxidant effect, you should also know that these fruits can have a great anti-aging effect.

The main anti-aging effect of grapes is in the extract of grape seeds. How these tiny seeds can help us erase some years from our face and health in general has been researched.

Grape seeds are filled with antioxidants that provide healing and anti-aging effects. You might have heard a lot that antioxidants are great, can improve your health, so nothing new so far, right!?! Hold your horses because research has shown that the polyphenols in grape seeds have certain proprieties that exceed in many ways the effects of regular antioxidants.

Resveratrol, probably the most important polyphenol, prevents the accumulation of oxidized cholesterol. Also, it reduces inflammation and fights free radical damage. Resveratrol also promotes apoptosis. This is the natural dying of old and damaged cells so that they can be replaced with new fresh ones. This allows for rejuvenation at cellular level. So, old and damaged cells are replaced quicker by fresh new ones. Are you seeing the connection here in terms of anti-aging effect!

Resveratrol has an anti-aging effect because it reduces wrinkles and fine lines that appear around the eyes and mouth. It stretches the skin and makes it suppler.

In addition to its anti-aging effects, resveratrol is also known for fighting cancer cells, antiviral effect and improving cardiovascular system.

Resveratrol can be found in high quantities in grape seeds and grape skin (about 5 – 10 milligrams of resveratrol per 100 g of grape skin).

The market is now filled with resveratrol supplements. Before going to your local pharmacy to buy this product, maybe it is best to head to your market place to buy some grapes. Don’t take a supplement with a single nutrient. Instead, you should better take it along with other antioxidants, vitamins, polyphenols directly from a natural source. All these nutrients work better together for a greater effect and more health benefits.

However, if you hate eating grapes with seeds (you really have to chew the seeds because they are not easily digested in the stomach), you could try in the form of oil, powder, capsules etc. When going for this solution, always check the ingredients so that the product is as natural as possible.

As you can see, anti-aging effect of grapes is not the sole health benefit grapes can provide. Also consider grapes detox diet for detoxification and health improvement.

I am a big supporter of the positive effects that resveratrol can have on the body. The problem with resveratrol supplementation however is that it loses its potency when coming in contact with air; called oxidative degradation AND it is not easily absorbed in the system; called low bioavailability.

Many of the resveratrol supplements on the market today state that they have high milligrams per pill but in actuality, most of the potency is lost during the manufacturing process and then in the bottle while waiting to be consumed, so they actually contain very little resveratrol.

And then what comes into play is the fact that the resveratrol crystal contained in most supplements is too large to be absorbed in the body so even if you were getting potent resveratrol, your body wouldn’t be able to break it down and absorb it efficiently.

There is only one product out there; Resvantage that addresses the two problems with resveratrol supplementation as described above; the Resvantage resveratrol supplement is encapsulated in an oxygen-free environment so there are no losses due to oxidative degradation and the resveratrol in the capsule is micronized; a particle reduction process that ensures that it is small enough for efficient absorption.

Recent studies point to (1) low dose resveratrol being as beneficial as higher doses and (2) micronized resveratrol being 3.6 times better absorbed than non-micronized resveratrol.

Nice one. With so many superfoods out there (which I do love) its nice to be humbled by how great a good ol’ grape can be. An amazing thing I heard recently about them is that they are one of the only foods that can cover all the bases of nutrients that humans need to survive, meaning we can live of grapes alone. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that in the summer, we can eat them as is and they are a cooling food, but we can then dry them and create raisins which then give them a warming influence on the body.

No wonder grapes are one of the sacred foods of our past.
