Homemade face masks for all skin types
Ladies, it is not a secret we all love our beauty products. What some of you don’t know is that some compounds, taken separately are amazing, but put together do more harm than good. Therefore, instead of taking unnecessary risks, why not prepare your own home made face mask, with some ingredients you definitely will find in the kitchen? Here are some proposals of homemade face masks:
1. Coffee and cocoa homemade face masks
Coffee lovers, this one is for you! One of the most appealing reasons for using this face mask is because you can adjust it to all skin types. It all depends on the ingredient you add, the composition being very simple. You mix:
- 4 tablespoons of fine grind coffee beans
- 4 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 8 tablespoons of diary – you can choose between milk, heavy cream, yoghourt – unflavoured, almond or coconut milk.
- Finally, the ingredient that differentiates skin types: add 2 tablespoons of honey, for dry skin or lemon juice for oily skin.
After you mix it, in that order, apply the mask on your clean face and neck. Let it dry. Remove the mask with warm water and avoid rubbing a towel on your face, the coffee might scratch your skin.
This mask will help you make your face softer, will add freshness and a better skin tone and will also help with the dark circles around the eyes!
2. Oatmeal homemade face masks for acne-prone skin
This homemade face mask is suited for those of you with acne problems. Attention! The mask doesn’t make the problem disappear, you should see a dermatologist for that, because you may have hormonal problems, as Julie Gabriel put it in her book, The Green Beauty Guide. The ingredients are:
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1/3 cup plain oatmeal
- 1 large yellow or white onion
- 1/2 teaspoon of honey
How you prepare it: add the boiling water over the oatmeal and let it be for 5 minutes. Turn the onion into a smooth puree, using a food processor. Add the onion and the honey over the oatmeal and stir it. If you feel like the mask isn’t thick enough, you can add more honey. Leave the mask on your face for 10 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.
This mask will help with the acne scars, will leave your face soft and smooth.

 3. Cucumber, egg white, lemon and clay face masks for oily skin
Another simple, yet effective recipe, this time for oily skin. Attention! It is recommended that you use this face mask and all the other lemon-based face masks, as a matter of fact, in the evening, because the lemon makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight. The ingredients are:
- 1 tablespoon of cucumber juice
- 1 egg white
- A few drops of lemon juice (add less if your skin is more a combination type rather than an oily type)
- ½ tablespoon of clay
Mix all the ingredients and, after they form a smooth paste, apply it on your face for 10-20 minutes. Remove the home made face mask with warm water. You will notice your skin is smooth, clean and not at all oily.

4. Avocado and honey homemade face masks for dry skin
Avocado is a brilliant choice for dry skin, because it contains a great number of oils. This is the reason this fruit is not recommended on a diet. The recipe is very simple, you only need:
- ½ ripe and soft avocado
- ¼ cup of honey
After you mash the avocado in a bowl, add the honey and stir. Apply the mask on your clean face and leave it for 10 minutes, then rinse the face with a cool washcloth. Your skin will be moisturized, soft and clean.
A tip for dry skin is the argan oil, it performs wonders!
